Time tracking

Time is the foundation of everything billable in Acculio.

The timer

Start the timer from anywhere in the app and pick a matter. The timer ticks locally and reconciles with the server when you switch tabs or come back to the app, so the elapsed time is correct across devices. Stop it to turn the elapsed time into a draft entry you can edit.

Because the timer ticks from a server-recorded start time, it keeps running even if you close the tab — and it works offline, queueing the entry to sync when you reconnect.

Manual entries

Prefer to log after the fact? Add an entry directly with a matter, a duration, an optional note, and the work date. Mark it billable or non-billable.

Approvals

Entries move through a simple lifecycle: draft → submitted → approved. Submitting an entry locks it for review; an admin approves it, after which it’s eligible to be invoiced. Rejected entries return to the author to fix.

Rates

You don’t set a price on every entry. Instead, rates resolve from the most specific match:

1. A rate for a specific person on a matter
2. A rate for the matter
3. A rate for the client
4. A workspace-wide entity rate

Set a default entity rate during onboarding, then override it where it matters. Remember: rate and amount are billing data, so timekeepers never see them (see The visibility model).
